About Us: Dr Dad & Family

Care and Share With Friends & Family!

Our Promise

As a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a practicing licensed physician for about 20 years, I have developed a keen sense of quickly getting to the root of the problem and finding efficient, practical solutions. Over the last 5 years, I have meticulously refined my approach to parenting.

While the “tiger mom” approach by my mom led to academic and career success, it did leave a lot of room for improvement. I had to work on my own social and emotional growth in my adult years when it should have never been an issue. With our own son, we have developed a balanced approach that helped him develop academically at an incredible pace (already 2-3 grade levels ahead) and still have a balanced life with playdates at the park, trips to the amusement park and extracurricular activities that he enjoys (Little League, art classes, karate, soccer). My goal is to inspire you parents to formulate your own custom-tailored approach to parenting that will not only help you develop a deeper, more loving bond with your children now, but also set them up for the best opportunities for future success and happiness in the future!

If you are a parent or involved with any aspect of care of a child or children, I promise that I will provide you with useful, insightful, helpful and most importantly, applicable ways to make parenting more efficient and fun!

Why Will You Want to Read this Blog Regularly?

My goal is to change your perspective on parenting. Nature vs nurture? Age old question right? We can’t change our genetics and potential IQ, but we can maximize our potential by proper motivation and nurturing with an action plan that parents can take a more proactive role in your children’s development. Almost every conversation and interaction your child can impact them in some way. Parenting is so much more rewarding when parents take an active role in their own children’s development instead of relying solely on the school and teachers.

I have read over 50 books since becoming a dad. For example, I have read books about what to do before, during, and after pregnancy. Other topics include books about the first year of a child’s life, ranging from colic to sleep issues to swaddling and teething. Additionally, I have researched toddler development and milestones, including physical, emotional, and social milestones. I have read countless books on toddler training methods and ways to avoid tantrums. I have learned ways to empathize with children.

Because our son was initially diagnosed with language delay, we also have read at length about speech and occupational therapy and autism, as well as other developmetal issues. We have looked into various options for schooling ranging from Montessori, Waldor, Reggio Emilia to free range parenting and play based schooling. You get the idea.

Furthermore, my wife has spent an equal amount of time learning about every possible thing parents need to know before pregnancy (and it’s not just pre-natal vitamins), during pregnancy, during birthing, post-partum depression, breastfeeding, types of car seats and high chairs and cribs, baby formulas, children’s allergies, children’s skin products (moisturizers, shampoos, butt paste and more), teething products, children’s vitamins and supplements and much more!

Last But No Least: To the Teachers & Educators

Thank you to all the teachers and educators out there that are working so hard to help our children! As a primary care physician, I understand what it means to feel overworked, underpaid and underappreciated. To all our parents who are reading this site, please reach out to your children’s teachers and let them know just how much you appreciate the work they do and let them know the impact they have made. When they move up a grade to another class or move to another school, let your kids’ teacher know just how much of a difference you have seen personally. They will still be overworked and underpaid, but at least they will feel more motivated and appreciated to continue to try to turn today’s challenged youth into tomorrow’s successful adults.
